Four Reasons to Teach About Spring
There are many potential reasons to teach kids about the spring season. Here are four:
- When learning about the seasons, kids can gain a deeper understanding of their environment and nature. They can become more aware of how their surroundings change throughout the year.
- Kids can also learn about scientific processes related to spring, such as pollination and the plant life cycle.
- The natural growth and transformation that occurs during the season can provide kids with an opportunity to use their creativity and imagination.
- Spring is a great opportunity to teach kids about spending time outside. The longer days and warmer temperatures tend to draw everyone outdoors, providing chances for outdoor activities like walking and gardening.

- Flower Garden Shape Match
Welcome Spring Book
This is a free, printable book that kids can color and assemble. The completed book is eight pages long, with a sign of spring as a topic on each page. Some signs of spring in the book are trees growing new leaves, rain showers, and animal babies being born.
The images on the pages are black and white. Children are welcome to color them to make them their own. After coloring, they can cut the pages and have an adult assemble the book with staples.
Signs of Spring Coloring Page
This is an engaging coloring page for kids of all ages that includes several signs of spring. Many of the images are the same as those in the Welcome Spring book. These activities can work together or separately.
Flower Garden Shape Match
This learning activity features a flower garden with four missing flowers. Kids color the flowers within four shapes: a square, a rectangle, a triangle, and a circle. The shapes are cut and pasted to their matching shapes in the flower garden.
This activity presents opportunities for coloring, cutting, recognizing shapes, and pasting. Additionally, kids can enjoy creating their own flower gardens.
